In My Opinion...
Posted by Elizabeth on May 12,2001:
I have finally finished entering the Innovation comic books on Widow's Hill and would like to invite you to look over the pictures and synopsis of each episode!

I spent quite a bit of time reading each comic in this series and was very impressed. This series, which is very loosely based on the 1991 Dark Shadows TV series, was written to go into more detail than the TV series every could. Every four comics focused on a new story line. These story lines ranged from where Dr. Julia Hoffman came from, why there were mutated creatures living in Dr. Hoffman's home town, the Gorgons living in Collinsport, to meeting Nathan Fairfax who could hear the thoughts of people he touched.

I must admit that the Innovation Comic series was very interesting and entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed each story line and felt like I got to know each character beyond what I knew from the TV series. The Innovation comics are much different than the Gold Key/Whitman comics that came out in the 1960's in that each Gold Key/Whitman comic had its own story line that was usually not continued from comic to comic. Even though these comics were interesting, I found myself looking much more forward to reading the Innovation series to find out what was going to happen next to some of the characters other than Barnabas and Quentin.

Unfortunately, the Innovation series abruptly ended. We will never know how the story ends or what happens next. I read that Dan Curtis productions is thinking about a Dark Shadows stage play. I know that many Dark Shadows fans (including myself) would love to see a new new Dark Shadows released, not only on the stage but on the TV screen as well. But how many of you would like to see this Innovation comic series continued? I think that this would be a great way to re-introduce Dark Shadows not only to all the existing fans, but a whole new generation. There must be a comic book company that would jump at the chance to publish the Dark Shadows story line. Perhaps if this would generate great interest it would be easier to prove that there are fans out there that would watch a new Dark Shadows TV series. But again...this is just my opinion....
