Dark Shadows Festival Update Posted by Elizabeth on July 22,2001:
On Sunday afternoon, August 19, 2001 at the DS Festival, Lara Parker and David Selby will perfom the A.R. Gurney two-person play "Love Letters". This is a great opportunity to see them in the bittersweet story about the dutiful lawyer Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and the lively, unstable artist Melissa.
On Sunday evening, August 19th, a banquet will be held at 8:15 in the Marriott Ballroom. The actors will sit among the attendees and everyone will receive a free DS collectible. In addition, special door prizes will be awarded. The cost for this banquet is $45 per person and is non-refundable. Reservations (required) must be received by Aug. 11th.
Donna McKechnie (Amanda Harris) will be unable to attend the festival. Her one-woman show "Inside the Music" at the Alcazar Theatre in San Francisco will be running approximately August 12-19, 2001. Donna hopes to attend the festival next year. She plans to provide the festival with video footage of her play.
On Saturday afternoon August 18, 2001, James Storm (Gerard Stiles) will play a selection of country songs (some of which he has written) on his guitar. A CD will be available for purchase at the festival.
Also included at the festival will be a discussion of the restoration of "Night of Dark Shadows", numerous video screenings, and a tribute to Louis Edmonds (who played Roger Collins in addition to other characters).
Time is running out to receive the discounted festival rate at the Marriott World Trade Center. Those who want this rate need to call in the next 6-10 days. There will be additional reservations at the Marriott Financial Center Hotel one block away. Please call the Marriott World Trade Center Hotel at (212)938-9100 for more information or to make reservations.
